NEW YORKER

In the most recent issue of the NEW YORKER, 7 out of the 9 critiqued exhibits listed are painting shows or at least include painting. Recently there had been fewer and fewer painting exhibits listed. Then in the recent weeks, there has been an increase in 2-D painting type of work given attention.
Once again, the rumored death of painting seems to be premature.

 I submitted to a juried exhibit in Round Rock, TX. The university in San Marcos, TX, Texas State U., has a gallery there which they share with the Round Rock Arts Council. The exhibit is called THE BIG SHOW. Large works. So I submitted BACKWARDS AND IN HIGH HEELS, (h) 60" x 48" and it is accepted! The release they sent is for the "....Sculpture and Photography show in the Fall.....". I'm considering not bothering. Even with the Texas State U. association, it is still Round Rock, apparently.
