CHANGES!!

I think PLAYING OUTSIDE is my new motif. I sold the painting with that title at WEST Austin Studio Tour. It was a backyard scene with a white squirrel. White squirrels are a variety native to Canada and Maine, up north where it snows a lot. But some have been transplanted to Austin so we see them from time to time.

I've changed the preparatory drawing for the Agatha painting to include children playing in the sand dunes. It really adds poignancy to the scene of that magnificent agave.

AGATHA THE AGAVE INSPIRES ME!

The biggest agave bloom I have ever seen has sprouted in my yard. I named it Agatha.

This was about 3 weeks ago.

Below is today.
It is growing about 3 inches per day, everyday.

There is a large bud on the very top that will open soon. Tomorrow?

I'm concerned that the stalk might blow or fall over so, with help, I put a safety line on it.

I have started preparation drawings for a painting of this phenomenon.

GREAT "WEST" Tour 2017

I sold a painting,

I changed it before the sale. We have a white squirrel family in the neighborhood.

2 prints,

3 or 4 wood pieces

and quite a few postcards.

Good Show. Lots of visitors, many obviously interested in real estate. "How long have you lived here?" and good weather.

WEST STUDIO TOUR, TWO WEEK-ENDS

I rearranged the studio area.
I put JUMP on the rock wall plus I have started drawing for a painting of Agatha,
the magnificent agave in my yard.

Agatha gets at least as much attention as the art exhibit, inside.

WEST

WEST is so fun....and scary and hard. I've cleaned up, pushed and pulled. The first week-end went well. Met and chatted with a wide variety of people. Now I want to rehang for the next week-end.
