THREE IN PROGRESS

This one is 20" x 16" and just started. It is a study for the 30" x 40" one I have started also.

This one is almost done. I think I will add soap bubbles besides tuning it up. This is small about 12" tall x 9". I'm reading THE ALPHABET VERSUS THE GODDESS by Leonard Shlain and also Stephen Quiller's book WATERMEDIA. He says that casein goes back 9,000 years?!?

TITLE FOR OBE

This painting called BACKWARDS AND IN HIGH HEELS is about Mom in her youth. It is 60" (h) x 48". It will be in the exhibit at the Old Bakery and Emporium. I have come up with a title for my exhibit next November. THE LONG VIEW. I stole that from an article by Michael Barnes in the newspaper.

NOT FINISHED, AFTER ALL

Sometimes, I set parameters for a work in order to teach myself.
This 1995 self-portrait was to compare ultramarine blue and thalo blue.

This was an exploration of using Hansa Yellow (PY3) instead of and with cadmium yellow medium (PY 32). I recently noticed that I really didn't finish the painting, being too distracted by the "problem". Now I'm going after it to tune it up and push it. Is this all about  the poem, now?

A DAYDREAM

This painting might be finished. When I added the hand on the woman's shoulder, the painting felt less lonely. More and More I am thinking of my work as poetry.

MEMORIES

Selling miniatures of the ruins, vistas of Italy to the tourists in 1979, without a permit seemed like a good idea at the time. At Christmas time, Piazza Navona became too crowded for upstarts like me so I set up in Teatro Goldoni's foyer. Rome was an adventure and an education.

E.A.S.T. FASHION

On Sunday, I rehung the wall and it looked much better. The weather was different this week-end, drizzle and cold. And educational experience, all in all.

BIG NEWS - O.B.E. NOV. 2014

OLD BAKERY AND EMPORIUM accepted my proposal for an exhibit in their free-of-charge space (20% of sales). It doesn't have status but I get to be self indulgent and do my own Exhibit!
On Aging Today - re: myself and Mom care.

ANOTHER SQUARE ON DIAGONAL

This is mostly finished. I'm still glazing. I want to get red glow on horizon line. This is a 6" square, 8.25" across. This is on framed out board and I painted around the sides. There is a bird in flight on the lower left side. This is called HOME IN WINTER.

GONE TO A GOOD HOME!

BLUE DAMSEL FLY sold to a good home at the Penn Field Generous Art Event. It was a beautiful event with good food, good music and good art. I suspected there might be smart people at this reception and there were! I do love smart people.

VISUAL ART EMERGENCY?

I made tiny labels for the backs of the tiny paintings. "In case of Visual Art Emergency, See other side".

These artworks are suitable for carrying in your pocket, wallet or purse. Now what will I charge for them?

SUNFLOWERS

Another great honor, no money, opportunity. I'm working on a plan for a billboard competition here in Austin called Art Boards.org. I'm lifting the sunflowers from painting-in-progress of my dog Foxy.
Just the leaves in lower right corner will suit the attempt. Practice, Practice, Practice.

LESSONS

Before and after. A little reorganizing of space and stuff was a positive from this event.
My Drawing I class visited. One student, alarmed, asked "What is this radio station you are listening to?!?" He says "The Music! It doesn't go together! They keep switching around!" (KUTX FM) That disturbed him. I had no response to that. He made a good grade in class, mostly for showing up and turning in work on time.

SOLD AT WEST STUDIO TOUR

I sold the rest of my bee cards plus the paintings pictured here plus a framed watercolor and more. My babies gone to new homes! The ones which sold were all good ones. That is heartening, actually.

REARRANGING ART WORK FOR THE TOUR

I pulled out this old painting, MYTHOLOGIES from 1993. It has a storied past. I eliminated a 2012 painting called LOVE.

MOM'S BRUSHES

I just noticed today that Mom's paint brushes are the lead item on the WEST Catalog cover!!
