SUB-SQUIGGLES AND ACRYLIC SURFACE STRINGS

This 1994 version of (DIS)ORGANIZED MYTHOLOGIES (65 1/2 inches by 47 inches) is one of a series on the subject goddesses and heroines.

When I started adding squiggles and "strings" to the surface of my paintings in 2010, I didn't notice that the apparently accidental forms are actually all "goddess symbols" from older cultures. "Goddess symbols" actually refers to symbols for the feminine aspects of life, the universe,
and individuals. This portrait of the Nurse Diana, Unit Manager was painted from a sitting in 2012.
Realizing that the gold leafed squiggles were these "goddess symbols", I changed her gaze. Now she is looking back at the viewer.

APPLIED TO "WEST" AUSTIN STUDIO TOUR

JUMP, 36" x 24", acrylic on canvas. The cinder block wall expresses many things to me. Depression, family, protection. But mostly I enjoyed doing that field of rocks. THAT was a challenge!

I have applied to the WEST Austin Studio Tour as a "guest" at a site that has not yet been approved by Big Medium. I plan to focus on exhibiting dolls and walls.
