SUNFLOWERS

The rain came and the sunflowers are growing but not really started blooming. The birds are visiting, singing. Neither the birds nor the flowers hold still for beans. I look away and the leaf has tilted, raised or bent.

SKETCHES ON MEMORIAL DAY

Some 'clients' don't or can't talk much. Sometimes I can't understand them. Some talk constantly. Some don't or can't hold still. I forgot my camera but the Activities director photographed these for me and emailed them to me. The new Technology that gives us such capabilities is stunning. I feel fortunate to remember Before. I'm sure I get more pleasure from it than the young people who perceive it as normal.
I got safely home before the deluge came in full force.

VOLUNTEERING

For the summer I have started volunteering at the nursing home again. I do 3 or 4 portrait sketches in about an hour and a half. Each one really only takes about 15 or 20 minutes but we chat some too. I learn a little about these people. I have heard some wonderful tales. First hand about travel, the Great Depression, wars and life. I photograph it then give the sketch to them.

FOUND, AGAIN

I found another un-photographed painting! It was listed in my art lists, 2014, but no photo! When working on it, I had difficulty deciding if it was "finished". I probably just stopped.  An invitation to participate in a "pop-up" exhibit led to some sorting then to this discovery. Whew! Enter, participate in opportunities. Like inviting people over to visit causes house-cleaning.

AMARYLLIS - FINALLY

After 3 years, my amaryllis finally bloomed. I don't think I did anything different so why-oh-why-oh? I don't know but ta-dah!

WOW! TIME FLIES!

Time flies when you are having a good time and lately has been exciting!
I'm writing a children's story, book. I have done this before. This one is more 'story'.

And a new painting almost done. I kept waiting to figure out what it means exactly but That hasn't happened yet. It is mostly done. It is about 1967-68, I know that. The problems in Baltimore brought back memories of Berkeley-Oakland days. The scent of teargas wafting through the streets. Confusion and bad behaviors combined with heroic actions. This called WINDS OF CHANGE.

I lived in Berkeley, CA, and worked at the Claremont Hotel in Oakland. Joan Baez got arrested. Many, many people got arrested and also bludgeoned. Martin Luther King and entourage stayed at the Claremont.
