SOLD!!

1956 (WEST TEXAS) 24" x 48"

This painting sold today through GenerousArt.org. That means 40% to me; 40% to a charity of the purchaser's choice and 20% to GenerousArt.org. This painting captures the atmosphere in our home  in West Texas in the 1950's. I'm probably the demon child in the center or maybe that is my brother, Carl. Now the painting has graduated to its new home!

ANGELS

I delivered this painting today. It was a commission from Linda Haywood, ANGELS ROOST, to honor her new home. I like working for friends. Angel images have a long history in human mythologies and philosophies. Here is my contribution.

PORTRAIT SKETCHES

I first started doing portrait sketches at the nursing home where my mom was a resident in order to spy on the nursing home. Going there as a volunteer instead of just a Visitor could give me some additional insight. It did some but not much. Mom passed away, left this realm, died and I have continued going to the nursing in the summertime when I only have one class to teach. I also get to keep in practice.

I get to hear their stories sometimes, visit with them. Sometimes their stories are very peculiar told through the veil of dementia or some other type of confusion.

Sometimes the resident is quite alert and have wonderfully interesting stories to tell.

But whether they can speak clearly and lucidly or not, their faces tell me tales of lives lived, of loss and of courage.
